Meat Sauce

Meat Sauce for pasta
1 lb. ground Beef
1   small Onion, finely chopped
3   Garlic cloves, minced
2 cans (15 ounces each) Tomato sauce*
1 can (14 ounces) water-packed Artichoke Hearts, drained and chopped
1 can (15 ounces) diced Tomatoes
1 jar (4½ ounces) sliced Mushrooms, drained
3   Bay leaves
1 Tbs. Sugar
2 tsp. dried Oregano
2 tsp. dried Basil
1/4 tsp. Pepper

In a large saucepan, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.

Stir in the next nine in­gredients.  Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

* Original recipe used 1 cup frozen peas instead of tomato sauce.
